Maddie update 5/2

Dear friends,

We arrived at the hospital around noon today and were greeted with Maddie playing with the tags on a panda doll that the nurses had given her. She always loved tags and her little fingers were turning it around and she was gazing intently. This was very encouraging since it meant a return of more delicate motor function.

After we spent some time with her, the surgeon came and talked to us about the pace maker operation. It would require opening her chest back up and extending the incision down to her abdomen a bit so the actual battery/generator could be placed between the muscles of the stomach and the lining protecting the organs underneath. It will be a big operation but easier than the two she’s already had.

The operation is scheduled for 7:30AM tomorrow morning and they hope to be done by noon.

Jen and I will be splitting up for the next few days to take care of both kids.  We thank God that we have both been able to eat and sleep well for the past two weeks.

Thanks,

Bill, Jen, Abby, Maddie
