Dear friends,
Maddie‘s continuing to recover and is showing better tolerance of the weaning of medications today compared to the past few days. She’s also shown tolerance of her food intake so they’ve continued to increase her feeds (although still through a feeding tube that goes straight to her stomach/intestines). She’s still a ways from baseline with a lot of rehabilitation to go through (e.g., speech pathologist for swallowing and taking food by mouth, occupational and physical therapy for muscle movement, etc.).
This morning, one of her pacemaker thresholds changed unexpectedly even though nothing would indicate a reason for change. The surgeon was originally concerned with whether they would need to take her back to Operating Room. However, after discussions with the electrophysiologists and the pacemaker brand specialist, the medical team concluded that due to the fact that her thresholds are still within a safe range even with this change, the plan is to just continue to monitor closely over the next few days.

This past week has worked out pretty well with Bill and I splitting up to take care of both kids, so we’ll continue to do so this next week. Praise God again that both our workplaces have been supportive and flexible with our time off and schedules.
Thanks for your continued prayers,
Bill, Jen, Abby & Maddie
