With mommy and Maddie suddenly back at the hospital (and most recently transferred to Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore), making sure that Abby has a relatively routine summer has been a bit of a challenge. But with the help of grandparents, auntie Kelly, uncle Mario, and all her friends, we’ve been able to keep her very busy on the weekends. Here’s a selection of all the activities that we’ve done this summer so far on weekends and after picking her up from daycare.
We go shopping at Walmart and sometimes get to see special events like this fire truck set up for Fairfax Day.

Woke up early one Saturday and went yard-sale bargain hunting. Got a car, books, a chair, and random things.

Bill built a backyard play-set with a shaky bridge…

…and a small climbing wall. (See her playing on it here)

Or when that’s not big enough, I take her to the elementary school playground

There’s a small stream and we go fishing together.

There’s also a pond close by and Abby’s becoming really good at catching sunfish.

Sometimes there are little frog as well.

We celebrated July 4th (a bit late) with sparklers.

We find animals around the yard like this box turtle.

A baby bird came to visit us – and even let us pet her.

She loves cutting flowers from the yard and putting them in vases.

Changing up her diet at the local Chick-fil-A.

Going to her friend’s birthday parties.
